Bruges, Christmas Market | Mark-Spokes.com
Shoppers check out the handicrafts and delicious food during the annual Christmas Market in Bruges Markt, under the shadow of the Belfry (Belfort). Every Christmas the Grote Markt is transformed into giant market which sells every kind of Belgian food and drink imaginable, as well as handmade decorations and other Christmas wares, and even it’s own ice rink.
The City of Bruges itself is truly fairytale city, full of Gothic Architecture dating back to the 12th Century. Perhaps the most famous landmark in Bruges, canals aside, is the Grote Markt a huge town square surrounding by stunning Gothic architecture, which is overlooked by the Belfort – a 83m high Belfry that Towers above the City. Bruges is often referred to as “the Venice of the North”, due to it’s numerous canal ways – and is now a UNESCO world heritage site.
put it on the list, we’re doing this.
